People from different faiths and backgrounds marked Holocaust Memorial Day (Jan 27) at a ceremony in Harlow.
Organised by Rabbi Irit and Harlow Council, it featured readings on the theme of the Ordinary People who both allowed the Holocaust to happen and who saved others.

Young people lit memorial candles and Razed Roof performed two wonderful and moving dances. Representatives from the Jewish, Muslim, Christian, Baha’i, Hindu and Humanist communities took part as well as the Ghanaian Women’s Group and Harlow Youth Council.

In Hertford Rabbi Irit spoke at the East Herts Council event while synagogue chair Lorraine lit one of six memorial candles. The event was organised by our member Councillor John Kaye.
