Rabbi Irit and chair Lorraine womanned a display about Judaism for an interfaith information afternoon at St Clare Hospice near Epping. They were delighted with the interest from nurses, social workers, volunteers, doctors and other staff who wanted to know more about how to look after their Jewish patients, especially during end of life care.
Rabbi Irit said: “It was heartening to see the hospice staff’s commitment to inclusivity, providing appropriate care for everyone in their charge.”
Of the many items of Judaica they took along, visitors to the display were particularly interested in Rabbi Irit’s Torah scroll and asked many questions.
The interfaith afternoon also included displays from the Muslim, Christian, Seikh, Hindu and Bahai communities as well as a representative from the Pagans.
